Kelly Allen

Kelly Allen is the Director of Northampton Community College's East 40, which is a community building and experimental pedagogy space on 43 acres of gardens, meadows, forest, and whimsey. His approach to teaching and learning is deeply influenced by critical pedagogy, place-based learning, and the public humanities. In addition to his role at the East 40, he is an on-again, off-again professor of food studies, with a keen interest in working with students on topics centered on sustainable food systems—or relational foodways as Rowen White more accurately describes them—food sovereignty, and food justice.

Kelly is a son, a brother, nephew, cousin, dad, spouse, potter, gardener, and lover of cake. Oh! and coffee. Just black please.
