Dr. Gina Turner

Gina Turner has a PhD in Psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York City. She is currently Professor of Psychology and Executive Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA.


Gina previously worked as a research fellow at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan, investigating psychological factors in physical illness (for example: how people make decisions about their treatment for cancer).  She is also a yoga instructor (RYT-200), and a board-certified Wellness Coach, and she invests all of her teaching and training with techniques related to developing an authentic, supportive, and growth-oriented learning environment.

 

She's an amateur poet and musician, loves pop culture (movies, tv, books) and lives with her husband and dog in Lambertville, New Jersey.

Kelly Allen

Kelly Allen is the Director of Northampton Community College's East 40, which is a community building and experimental pedagogy space on 43 acres of gardens, meadows, forest, and whimsey. His approach to teaching and learning is deeply influenced by critical pedagogy, place-based learning, and the public humanities. In addition to his role at the East 40, he is an on-again, off-again professor of food studies, with a keen interest in working with students on topics centered on sustainable food systems—or relational foodways as Rowen White more accurately describes them—food sovereignty, and food justice. 

 

Kelly is a son, a brother, nephew, cousin, dad, spouse, potter, gardener, and lover of cake. Oh! and coffee. Just black please.

Jeff Armstrong

Jeff Armstrong is a Professor of Psychology at Northampton Community College. Jeff earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2006 from PSU and his Master's degree in Psychological Counseling in 2008 from Monmouth University. After grad school, Jeff taught psychology as an adjunct at Brookdale C.C. while gaining clinical experience at an juvenile prison. In 2011, he landed a full-time position at Northampton Community College as a psychology professor.


Jeff was previously the host of Cengage's psychology podcast, The Neuro Transmission. You can also find many of his lecture videos and interactive assignments embedded in Cengage's digital platform (Mindtap) for Psychology textbooks.


Jeff is a father of two incredible kids, Juliet and Lola. With his free time, he loves all the food and drinks, playing guitar and pickleball, snowboarding, and watching sports.
